Adam Ailsby
Adam Ailsby (native English speaker) has a BA in German and Economics from the University of Exeter, England. During the course of the degree he studied for one year at the Institute of Translation and Interpreting at Heidelberg University.
Adam's first encounter with the legal world was in the position of assistant to the Vice President Legal Counsel Europe, at BMG records (Martin Schaefer). During his employment in this position (2002-4), Adam was exposed to legislative and commercial intellectual property issues at a high level.
Upon leaving BMG, Adam was fortunate in being able to pursue his growing interest in intellectual property law issues - together with language - as a freelance translator in the service of one of the top five IP law firms in Germany. Other clients - including several major entertainment and law firms - followed.
In the past five years he has gone on to amass extensive translation experience in the areas of law and business, in particular covering copyright law, trademark law, competition law and media law. He has further enhanced his knowledge through attending courses at the Humboldt University in Berlin.
Adam is married, and has lived in Berlin since 2001.
John Ailsby
John (native English speaker), joined the company at the beginning of 2009, bringing with him proofreading and copy-editing expertise as well as important experience working at management level.
He immediately employed the management skills he had gained working within several blue-chip companies, to identify areas within Ailsby Language Services where systems could be introduced in order to improve the customer experience. This resulted primarily in work processes being formalised to ensure the client receives the same high level of service every time.
John's input enabled Ailsby Language Services to significantly improve efficiency and consequently more than double capacity.
In addition, proofreading and copy-editing has been a feature of John's work throughout his career, culminating in formal training in 2007. Now, every piece of English translation is thoroughly checked by him prior to being "signed off" and despatched to you.
John is married with one daughter, and lives in Lincolnshire, England.
